July 8: Second Day

We had a good night's sleep and got off to a good start this morning. We headed out of Salina, KS going to Nebraska. We stopped in Concordia, Kansas to check out the Brown Grand Theater. It was restored in the late 70s (to the tune of about $500,000).

While we were looking for the theater we got a glimpse through the trees of an imposing looking building in the distance. We we finally located the building it turned out to be a convent that had been established in 1884.

We also drove by the mansion that Napoleon Bonaparte Brown, the builder of the theater, built for his family. I didn't take a photo of the Brown Mansion.

We stopped at The Country Kitchen in York for lunch. Our GPS (we call it Simone) found the place for us.

Our major stop for the day was The Platte Road Archway near Kearney, Nebraska (they say CAR nee). It is a wonderful museum.
