A Good Visit

Neal and Carolyn have been visiting us the last few days. They headed back toward the Dallas area this morning. They were planning to spot at a local orchard and purchase some east Arkansas peaches before they left town.

On Tuesday we visited the gardens of two different friends. Joan and Ed have a wonderful shade garden with a very nice water feature.

I particularly like the hydrangea that are now blooming.

Joan and family have large garden that is filled with different blooming plants much of the spring, summer and fall.

Yesterday after lunch we all went to Memphis. Neal and I looked around in Davis Kidds book store while Carolyn helped Lynda do some shopping. Then, we headed over to Lauri and Jeff's for a visit with them.

We had a few minutes to kill before Lauri got home from work, so I thought it would be good to drive about in a nice residential area. Well, on the way I saw a sign for the farmers' market at Audubon Park. We decided decided to stop and see what they had to offer. We made a few purchases, then drove on to Lauri and Jeff's.

We had a short visit before we set out for the Barbecue Shop for dinner.

After dinner we went back to their home for dessert and coffee. Carolyn had requested Shaker Lemon Pie and I knew that Lauri also like it, so I had baked one. And of course I knew that it was one of Lynda's favorites, so it was a no-brainer choice as dessert for our special day.

Summer Time

Tomorrow is the official beginning of summer. We have had some pleasant days the last week. After the hot, humid weather the lower temperatures have been very nice.

I drove up to Wynne and picked blue berries last Friday. When I saw Lauri last weekend I mentioned the blue berries and she asked me to get some for her if I went back. I went back on Tuesday (the first day after the cool front that came through). Today I went to the local produce marked and got some fresh vegetables for supper. We had fried squash, steamed okra, purple-hull peas, and sliced tomatoes. And of course there was iced tea to go along with it.

Neal and Carolyn are coming on Sunday to visit for a few days. We plan to go to Memphis on Wednesday and have dinner at the Barbecue Shop. It (June 25th) will be our 48th wedding anniversary.

Hot, Humid Weather

It has been hot and humid around here. The wind has blown some, so I guess that makes things a little more bearable. I'm trying to get my little "patio area" finished. I started it last year and it still has a ways to go before it looks like anything. It's not even up to the point where I want to take a photo of it to post.

A Break In

While we were away from home visiting friends in Texas, someone broke into our house. C.L. discovered the break in when he came to do some work in the yard. He went across the street to a neighbor's house and she called the police. The thief punched a hole in the screen door to get onto the screened in porch, then broke the glass in the door to the hallway.

A friend called our daughter and she then called us.When we got home we made a list of the things that were taken and took it to the police station on Saturday.
